Create an Address Group

An address group can be composed of individual email addresses that you add one at a time, or, if you are connected to Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) directory, an address group can be composed of an existing Active Directory group.

Create an Address Group from Individual Email Addresses

  1. Go to Manage > Address Groups.
  2. Click Create Address Group.
  3. Enter a Group Name. The name should reflect the email addresses you plan to put in the group.
  4. Select Use for Imposter Detection. Enabling this option will allow a policy to detect imposter for the selected address Group.
  5. Add one or more addresses Manually:
    1. In the Type drop-down list, select Manually.
    2. Enter a First Name, a Last Name, and a valid Email Address.
    3. Click Add.
  6. Add one or more address using CSV Import:
    1. In the Type drop-down list, select Manually.
    2. Click Download Template to use as sample template to create your CSV.
    3. Click Import CSV. Select the CSV file you want to Import and click Open.
NOTE:

When you import a CSV file, a success message will be displayed if the format of the imported file matches that of the Download Template. However, if the imported file is not in the correct format, an error message will be displayed, providing you with the necessary details of the error.

  1. If you want to add exception email addresses, enter each valid email address one at a time and click Add after entering each one.
  2. Click Submit.

Address groups created this way must be updated manually. See Edit an Address Group for details.

Create an Address Group from an Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) Group

  1. Go to Manage > Address Groups.
  2. Click Create Address Group.
  3. Enter a Group Name. The name should reflect the email addresses you plan to put in the group.
  4. Select Use for Imposter Detection. Enabling this option will allow a policy to detect imposter for the selected address Group.
  5. In the Type drop-down list, select Via Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).
  6. Click in the Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) group field.
  7. Select a Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) group. The names and email addresses from the Entra ID group that contain both first and last names are added to the address group list.
  8. If you want to add exception email addresses, enter each valid email address one at a time and click Add after entering each one.
  9. Click Submit.

Address groups this way are updated automatically when the Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) group they are linked to changes. For other changes you can make, such as changing the address group name or unlinking the address group, see Edit an Address Group,
